The question was not clear exactly what subsets of line?
Here are a few possibilities:

1.Subset of a real line http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real_line ?
“In mathematics, the real line is simply the set R of real numbers. However, this term is usually used when R is to be treated as a space of some sort, such as a topological space or a vector space.” See also real numbers http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real_number#Basic_properties_of_the_real_numbers
Like in a subset of integers (3, 4, 5, 6) or (3.10, 3.11, 3.12…)
Extension:
2.In what geometry?
Point in a segment form an infinite subset of a line in Euclidian geometry.
3.Is a line made up of segments?
Then the segments form a subset of line segments then?
4.Clustering ?
Sets of points belonging to a line that cluster around certain conditions become subsets of line.

Can you supply more specific information?

I hope that helps.

Meaning Of Subsets

Notation is not completely standardized. When the dash is present the bottom part of the symbol looks like an equal sign. This is used to mean subset, possibly equal to. People using this notation may then use the subset symbol without the dash to mean proper subset, i.e. a subset but not the set itself.

By subsets of a line, you are probably talking about the real line, also called the number line.

The set of real numbers contains all positive and negative numbers, zero, irrationals, transcendentals, etc. So any set that includes only these numbers as elements is a subset of the real line. Also, the null of empty set is a subset of every set. Also, the entire line is a subset of itself.

What sets are not subsets of the real line?

Here are a few: {x| (x^2+9)=0}

{0, 10, my aunt Judy}

Hope this helped.

in a number line,subset means the elements contained in line.
when u talk subset there can be elements included in the set.then we use [ ] to include last the ending elements and () to not to include last elements.
in a number line from 1-20
5 belongs to the line and is subset of that line.
