It is actually cooler to cover up in loose clothing. That's why US troops in Iraq aren't wearing short sleeves.

think abt it when you wear bathing suits and stuff in the sun you get burned easily.
They wear alot of clothes but they are loose so that they can protect themselves from the sun and still catch a breeze. This is why they wear so many clothes
people who live in the sahara wear clothes like that

To keep from getting burned by the wicked sun. I was in Egypt and Libya a couple months ago. And even though the weather was pretty cool, you could just feel your skin frying after just a few minutes out in the sun.

I think its all light cloth for air to get thru but enough to keep the sun and sand out?? some of it may be religous and for people who dont have much following what there religion says may be a big thing for them...
