I prefer things like the Keeper or Instead. they are alternative feminine hygiene products. They are "cups" that are flexible, you insert there, and they don't absorb, so they don't cause TSS. They are easy to use, don't leak, and are no more messy than tampons are.
The Keeper you can find online and are around 35.oo each, but they last for 7 years. you just rinse them out,
The Instead are disposable and you can get them at WalMart in the pad/tampon isle.

I like the original Tampax for the same reasons other women wrote...easy to use, biodegradable, etc. I tried OB, but I had some difficulty getting it in right, and ouch!

I like Kotex, as the applicator has a little ridgid lip on the top portion making a grip better to push the bottom up and release.

i like tampax cardboard applicator because it's all biodegradable and you don't have a nasty trash can for a week. they come in packs of 100 at costco...it's really nice not to have to worry whether or not i have enough tampons to last me...

Personally, I like OB because they are small, discreet but wider and more absorbent when they open up inside you. They aren't long like Kotex and Tampex which always drives me crazy. You can buy them with or without an applicator.

Personally I HATE tampons, unless I absolutely need to wear them. First of all they leak, and secondly I hate having something stuffed up inside of me, that's just weird. Also, you could get TSS (toxic shock syndrome) if you don't use them properly.

I say there isn't a best one. It depends on the individual - size, shape, etc., all matter. Shop around, try different kinds until you find the one you like most.
