Why are people still hung over what race a girl or guy is? We are like way beyond that I thought. Or is it parents bringing it down on kids?

I am Black and I have only ever dated white guys.

My mother has not forced a thing on me and doesnt care who I date as long as I am happy.

I often wonder why anyone would care who I am with. I am the only person that has to go home and deal with him, and he with me. It just shouldnt affect their lives that much.

But then maybe people have nothing else better to do with their time. They need something to believe in and be a part of, and in that case I'm all for it.

I am happy with my white guy and if judging us makes them happy and comfortable with theirs lives so be it.

I think honestly that it is just a normal, subconscious trait to seek out those like yourself, and most people will have more in common both physically and culturally with someone from their own race. It's the easy pick.

I am a white girl, and have heard all sorts of things that people's families have told them about which race not to date and why. I think that it boils down to parents not wanting their daughters to be treated like trophies...they think men of other races (esp black men) just want to take a white girl away from the white guys. Plus people tend to want children & grandchildren that look like themselves.
