Monostat will probally be used anyway, but always best to check with your OBGYN, you have to go see him/her on a regular basis anyway. Your Doctor will notice this condtion during your next exam. if it is particulary bothersome then make an appointment.

when i was pregnant, the doctor prescribed me an over the counter drug for a yeast infection. But it was smart to consult a pharmacist, people don't realize that the head pharmacist generally spends an extra 4 years beyond their bachelor's to become a pharmacist.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!. Firstly, and this is from my Obgyn. the over the counter stuff only masks the problem. you need an antibiotic. CALL YOUR DOCTOR!!!! And being pregnant I cannot believe you are asking internet advice on something so important. READ ALL LABLES. The read. If you are pregnant consult your physician before taking!!!!!!!! I'm going to go out on a limb though and guess that this is your first child. Otherwise I'm sure you would know better.

I just went through the same thing 2 weeks ago, I am 20 wks pregnant. My doctor said you can use over the counter medicine as long as it is monistat. I had him to prescribe me a one day dosage medicine though, because if something were to go wrong or be incorrect, I would rather be able to do something about it legally so it is always a good thing to get a prescription, that way you have proof that it was okayed. Get what I am saying?

No. as with any medications during pregnancy - check with your docotr. Yeast infections and bacterial infections are common during pregnancy. Go get a book called " what to expect when you are expecting". It's the pregnancy bible and will help with all these questions. It's excellent in describing all of these little things that worry moms and help distinguish when something is "normal" or not.
Good Luck!

No, absolutely not. Do not use ANYTHING without your doctors permission. When I was pregnant, my doctor wouldn't even let me use regular eye drops. He said it would get in my blood stream and to the baby. Same goes for nasal sprays. And plus, with you being pregnant, it might not be a yeast infection, so using something like that might make it worse anyway. Talk to your doctor.

honey, you've got my utmost sympathy for the yeast infection during pregnancy. i hated it, had it for 6 out of 10 months i was pregnant because of my hormone imbalance. my doctor said to use Monistat 7, but definitely not the Monistat 3 or the 1-day thing, those wouldn't work & they'd just make me feel worse. you should go ahead and talk it over with your doc just to be on the safe side, and to let s/he know what's going on with you. gl & congrats on the baby!!

you can ask the pharmacist at the store or call your doctor. Don't rely on this website for medical information that may or may not put your unborn child in jeopardy

i wouldnt see why you couldnt, i mean if you go to a doctor he is probably going to give you the same thing to treat it. just ask a pharmacist, they will know. also, eat a cup of yogurt every day, that will prevent yeast infections.

Call your doctor and ask. Or go to a clinic and ask the nurse. You can also ask the pharmacist at the drug store.
