make sure he is fed and has a clean diaper and let him cry it out in his crib. it may sound mean, and it's hard to deal with but it is for his own good. and yours so you don't go crazy. Eventually he will fall asleep. go in there every half an hour to comfort him but don't pick him up. tell him it's time to sleep and then leave the room. Don't give into him though, I know it's hard. I have a seven month old son and I had to do it, after a week I just put him in his crib and he goes to sleep. it's the best thing to do. if he cries for more than an two hours, there might be something wrong and call the doctor.

That is typical. If you find you just cannot stay awake during the day, please, please, please get someone to watch the baby while you take a nap. In the meantime, it sounds like you are doing what you can. Some babies get their nights and days turned around and all you can do is keep them up during the day so that they are tired at night. Is he taking too long a nap during the day? If he is, maybe he isn't ready for bed because he already got a night's worth of sleep. Don't let him sleep for more than 2 hours in the afternoon. Are you keeping him on a schedule? If you let him stay up sometimes but want him to sleep when you want, that isn't going to work. A baby can't adapt that much

There is a lot that you can do. Do not let the child sleep in the evening or for a very long nap in the day. Try to keep him active so he is tired for bed. Give him baby cereal a little while before bed so he is full. Rock him in the dark if you need too until he falls asleep, singing to him softly will not hurt either. I have had three kids in four years while working a full time job. It is not always easy but it will get better. My kids are all 6,8 and 9 now and I actually miss them being that little.

Ahh, the good old days, when I was the father of a little one, those bags under my eyes, nodding off in traffic and at work. He was apparently sleeping all day waiting for my return. It's part of being a parent. Anyway, I could drive him around in the car for a awhile and he'd go to sleep, the hard part was getting him back in the house without his waking. It was the only thing that worked. Glad he's older.

try dimming the lights, that will put his brain in sleep mode and play some soft lullaby music and rock him. if he doesnt want to be rocked just let him play on the floor but in a room where the lighting is very dim and still play relaxing music to calm him down a bit. good luck.

Take him for a drive. The car puts most babies to sleep.

I've been there. It ain't fun.
The only way to break the cycle is to keep him awake all day. Whenever he dozes off, wake him up.
It won't be easy or pleasant; he will cry.
You're the grown-up, he's the baby. Take charge.
