It's been awhile but I think I can still answer this. What are you fishing for? For hatchery trout, nothing beats Power Bait (or whatever the latest doughball thing out now is).
For bluegill, crappie, sunfish... worms and grubs are good as any.
Catfish eat anything smelly like chicken liver, worms, and even canned dog food.
Bass will take worms, fish, crayfish, frogs, grasshoppers if you can catch them.
Otherwise worms are good for just about anything.

Some fish like those little marshmallows. If you spread some around on the pond a day before you go fishing, to give them a taste for it, they'll go for the bait in a hurry.

I don't know for pond fishing; anything that the hook will hold should be tested. Meat maybe? We used to catch a little perch and cut it up for bait, worked pretty good.
For deep sea fishing, I prefer chihuahuas.

Canned corn is the best alternative. If their still not biting switch to another area of the pond. Or switch to another pond.

A large cooler full of Guiness. You may not catch any fish, but who cares.
Fisherman--drink more beer by 6 am than most people did the night before.
