I am a girl with dark black hair. I think I have a ovarian cyst but have been avoiding a doc b/c I'm embarassed by my pubic hair. Its pretty coarse and goes from my belly button to my anus. Do other girls out there have a lot of hair, too? Or am I the only one...?

Don't hesitate to see your doctor because of something like this. Your health is much more important than a feeling of embarassment or self-consciousness. You are not the only one with this problem, as there are lots of girls out there with hairier pubic areas. The doctor won't even bat an eyelash. Let me tell you, doctors have seen it all. I am not a doctor but I am in medicine and I can tell you firsthand that I have seen more vaginas than I ever thought I'd see in my life, and I have only ever looked at them in a clinical way. I don't even remember "specifics", nor have I ever thought, "Oh, her 'area' looks weird!" Frankly, all the vaginas I've seen have just looked the same to me. No kidding.

Seriously, stop procrastinating and go see your gynecologist. If you're really that self conscious about it then you can wax it yourself or shave (carefully). Best of luck.

you should not be worried about your hair. Gyno's are Dr they see all kinds of women's bodies every day. They are use to it.. How ever if you are worried about your hair shave it or trim it down. The more important subject here is your health. If you think you have cysts then you need to go and let your Dr. Know the reason for the visit.. Don't waste time or things could get worst in the long run for you...

Women have all kinds of pubic hair. I can guarantee you are not the only one. Trust me, your doctor has seen it all! Ovarian cysts can be dangerous if they are not treated, so you need to make an appointment.

You can do this!

what are you doing worrying about your pubes when you could be in mortal danger. if you die your pubes aint gonna matter too much are they? and good luck trying to get anyone else to admit they have a pube problem. shave it. shave it even if i takes you weeks to do so. for gods sakes do whatever it takes to get you to be comfy at the doctors office. please look up how serious an ovarian cyst is and then compare it with your so called humility, then think about people who have your problem but cant walk, or eat on their own, and have to have a helper monkey which they think is also looking at them in disgust of their pubic hair. now wake up and realize its not that bad, its hair and you are in charge of wheather it stays or goes.

As a nurse, you need to know that these doctors and nurses see all different types of bodies. I am sure that they really don't pay any attention to it, it is just part of their job. They expect this. What do you think that 90-year-old woman looks like.

Really, your health is more important. Go and be seen. If you are that uncomfortable with it, maybe she could make a suggestion about taming it (for lack of a better term). Go to a GYN, please make sure that you are healthy.

Your doctor has first and foremost as an objective to treat all patients well and help them with their problem. Your doctor will not judge you or care about anything that does not contribute to making you better.

So go see a doctor...you'll feel better soon.

Your hair is perfectly normal, as is your anxiety. Keep in mind that different countries of origin will have different physical traits. (more hair, less hair, big nose, small nose, tall, short, etc...) It's just part of being human! :)
