I don't care what race you are, that's a horrible name asking for tons of teasing when she gets into school. Tell them they have to think of the mean-spirited kids at school, not just what they think sounds nice. I had to forgoe my first choice for my son because the spelling was traditional Welsh and no one would be able to read it. Also, they might not like Anime in a couple of years, and then decide after its too late that they were stupid for naming their child that. Poor kid.

I think Kisa is a cute name. Kind of reminds me of Kitty or Kissy.
I think that names sure are getting more and more creative these days. It's getting to be that what were so called normal or ordinary names like Lisa or Mary are the weird names now!
Have you tried looking on the net to find the origin or meaning of the name?
My sister in law had a baby girl they named Kalilah - I probably spelled it wrong! It sounds Polynesian to me, but it's a Hebrew name. I think it means princess.

Why does it matter to YOU what SHE wants to name HER baby? How would you react if she didn't share ideas of her names and when the baby is born named the little girl Kisa? Would you be having a fit then? People seem so quick to comment on other people's baby name choices when the baby is in-utero. Keep your mouth shut and maybe she will decide on her own that she doesn't like it--if not, LIVE with it and LOVE that little baby like there is no tomorrow!

Kisa is not a bad name for a white kid. We have named our kids MUCH worse. If she likes the name and all then tell her to go for it. I think it is pretty and she could have very well heard it off a movie cuz movies tend to give us strange names.

No that doesnt sound like a white name at all. How old is your sister? Sounds like she's rather young if she's wanting to name her child after an Anime cartoon character... Tell her to find a respectable name for that baby.

I don't get any sort of ethnic vibe from it but it's just kind of a weird name. Although I had a friend when I was a little girl named Kita. I've always thought that was a cute name.

I dont like it but then again I want to name my daughter after an X men Character....Rogue. I am not as young as some of you either. I don't think her age has anything to do with it.

why not try something from greek or roman mythology? my personal favorite (for a girl's name) is Persephone (purr-seff-oh-nee)
