P.S. Just for the record, I bathe every day & I fight for what is right. What were you saying about hippies?

Hippies get a bad rap for trying to be peaceful and responsible, but they don't care because they aren't motivated by greed or desire to feel important.

Folks write off their ideas without giving them a fair consideration.

Our society needs more of the values that Hippies stand for, especially during these bleak times of war and government oppression.

Peace.

Hippies? I'm having a flashback from my youth. Is the hippie thing a new retro craze now? If it is this is one slice of the late 60's that should not be brought back. Those were very special times in a very special era, any attempt to bring it back would not be the real deal.

I think they are the one group that made a difference and stuck to what they believed in. That is, until they grew up and became neoconservatives.

I think they integrated all white coffee shops and they changed the music in this country from "cute" to thought provocative. I think that they brought bedroom gossip out of the bedroom and put it in the living room. For better or worse.

I think that they were just the dissident side of the baby boom, but there were so many of them, that the world had to stand up and take them seriously.

And, given all that's happened in the 50 years since they appeared, I think that they are old people now.

Wonderful how the worm turns? Remember the term, "You can't trust anyone over 30?.? They are the guys who don't trust any one under 20. Funny how that works out, in the long count.

Hippies have got to be the mopst dedicated people out there to there beliefs without reaching a cult. They believe in peace and anti war...which is a good thing unless you like your family and friends getting killed by insurgents. I strongly appreciate hippies for their dedication and integrity towards nature and the world.

Well us old hippies think of ourselves as rather intellectual. We try to love and understand everybody except sodomizes. We still believe in free love (with the opposite sex). We still love good old rock and roll music. We still smoke a little Mary-Jo now and then. We still DO NOT believe in senseless wars or seeing our brothers and sisters getting killed for no good reason. We still believe that a stupid President is NOT a good thing to have.

They had their time and place in our countries history. The only true hippies today are in their 50's, 60"s and 70's.
