Achilles' Heel. Achilles was a Greek hero whose mother got him almost immortal strength by dipping him in the river Styx (the river of the Underworld - kind of like Hell). She had to hold him somewhere so she held him by his heel.

When Achilles fought against Paris in the Trojan war, Paris killed him by an arrow or a knife (legends are confused) to his heel.

Today the saying someone's achilles' heel means that while they have what looks to be a very strong position, they have a weakness that will bring about their downfall.

If you mean Achilles' heel, the great Greek warrior hero Achilles was dipped into the river Styx by his mother, making all of his body invunerable except for his heel with which she used to hold him during the dunking. During the Trojan War, Paris shot an arrow into Achilles' heel, the only vulnerable spot on his body and he died. An Achilles' heel is someone's greatest weakness.
