Hmm...
By one site's estimate, the all-time champion may well be a relatively unknown (outside of Australia, anyway) Australian superstar who recorded under the name "Slim Dusty".
David Gordon "Slim Dusty" Kirkpatrick died of cancer at the age of 76, while in the process of recording his 106th (!!!) album, a release titled "Columbia Lane - the Last Sessions". The album went to #1 on the Australian country charts in early 2004.

hmmm... good question.
the problem with it is that.... there must be some totally inferior bands who recorded a SH*TLOAD of albums! but who knows what these bands are, and who's keeping track of their recording history!
but...
