I've got to say first that I have been waiting to see the Mavs go to the finals since 1979. I live 50 miles from the AA Center where we call home court and see as many games as my meager salary can afford. I watched all 6 games, and I think our lack of experience combined with bonehead refs (terrible calls on both teams in the whole series) let Miami take home the trophy. I'm not sure the best team won, but Pat Riley and his boys got the best of us.

To come back from being down 2-0 in a 2-3-2 format, and to be only the 3rd team to do it, i'd say yes they deserved it. There were many things that could have easily helped the Mavs win the series, but they just didn't work out that way. Miami just was the better team for the last 4 games of the series. So yeah they deserve it.

I don't think so. The NBA doesn't fix games. That's impossible. And stupid. It could never happen. But there are three major problems here. First, Dwyane Wade shot as many free throws (25) as the entire Dallas team in Game 5. I just don't see how there's any way this can happen in a fairly-called game. It's theoretically impossible.
Second, everyone knew the officiating would be a problem heading into this series because of Cuban's past problems with the league. No team depends on the refs quite like the Heat. When the refs are calling all the bumps on Shaq and protecting Wade on every drive, they're unstoppable. When they're calling everything fairly, they're eminently beatable. If they're not getting any calls, they're just about hopeless. The officiating in Game 3 (the last five minutes were just obscene) and Game 5 (again, a top-five debacle) was absolutely atrocious.
Third, here's a theory on referees that was described in a blog last spring:
"I don't think the NBA fixes games, but they have one trick that they use for situations like this -- when they want a home team to win the game, they invariably assign the worst referees possible to that game for two reasons: Bad referees have a tendency to get swayed by the home crowd, and bad referees never have the stones to make a tough call on the road. In a related story, I went to 35 Clippers games this year and kept a list of the referees in my pocket which I also used to follow the referees for any televised games. And yes, the referees in the NBA -- as a whole -- have never been worse. But there were six referees that stuck out as being especially terrible."
Then I went on to list the worst six referees. Here was No. 2 on the list:
"2. Bennett Salvatore -- Always one of the worst, he took it to another level this season. If you see him on the court at the start of the game, get ready for about six technicals, two near-brawls and both coaches having to be restrained by their assistants at various times."
Why is this relevant? Not only did Salvatore officiate Game 4 of the Suns-Lakers series (the one where Kobe tied it at the end of regulation and won it at the end of OT on two shaky non-calls on Nash, both by Salvatore), not only did Salvatore officiate Sunday night's Game 5 (in which Miami had a 40-12 free-throw advantage at one point), but Salvatore called the foul on Wade's final drive in overtime (remember, the call where ABC couldn't find a replay to show that anyone touched him?) even though he was standing at midcourt a full 35-40 feet from the play, and even though two other refs were closer to the play. Not only was that NOT his call, he butchered it.

Hell NO... heres my reasons....Suspensions.....Shaq can elbow Dirk in the face flagrantly and not even get a slap on the wrist...but Stackhouse pushing someone that weighs over 100 lbs more then him while trying to stop him from scoring (anything short of that and he would have bounced off) gets him suspended? And officiating, I mean seriously everytime Wade missed a bucket there would be a "foul" when I recorded all the games and you can go back and CLEARLY see no foul....the reason being is that the Heat winning is a better story then Dallas....Shaq gets another title, Payton finally gets a title, and The rise of a Superstar in Dwayne Wade is much better publicity for the NBA then an actual TEAM, not one player but A TEAM like the mavs, in the end it all comes down to is who will sell the most Jerseys...

Yes they did...You cant blame the refs because it was the Mavericks who gave the series away, perhaps because of lack of experience. I really thought that Dallas would win, but they did not have the will to win. They were playing like it was the earlier rounds of the playoffs. They did not play with the sense of urgency. Wade showed he can carry a team to the promise land and congratulations to the Miami Heat. They deserve it.

About the refs call, Think about this:
- If Wade wasn't attacking the basket and stood around the perimeter (like Dirk does), do you think he will make a trip to the line many times???
- If Dirk attacked the basket early and often, dont you think he will get to the line more as well?? I'm just disappointed at how Dirk played in this series. He was so passive and kept shooting those jumpers. Well, he did have some inside buckets, but they were usually freebies with no one around him. He has to take the ball and muscle his way in (like Wade) if he wants to get those calls.

But dont wory, Dallas is young and they can do it again...

No, they did not deserve to win the finals. This is why....the refs.

I gaurantee you if Dwayne Wade went to Ruckers in NYC and called fouls like he was getting in the Finals the ballers on the street would beat Wade down for being a little whiny biatch.

I thought that this was supposed to be playoff basketball where it's supposed to be "no blood, no foul". But on at least 3 occasions that I remember no one even touched Dwayne Wade and he got to shoot free throws. Meanwhile, Dirk is basically getting body slammed and there is no call.

I don't see how anyone who isn't biased can't see that. Dwayne Wade gets breathed on and it's a foul. Meanwhile Dirk is getting elbows to the face, getting pushed to the floor, getting bodied up so he can't drive and there's no call.

And it wasn't just Dirk. It was the entire Mavericks team. For example, how do you lose a headband and not get fouled like Josh Howard in game 6? How do you get a cut on the top of your head that requires a bandage like Jerry Stackhouse in game 6 and it's not a foul? I can go on and on.

But the obvious thing is the suspension on Jerry Stackhouse. I mean come on!!!!! Even Shaq said that his baby girls hit him harder. Even Alonzo Mourning was talking about how THAT'S the playoff basketball he remembers and misses.

I swear. If this is what the NBA is coming to then I don't want to be a fan anymore. I used to love the days of the Detroit Bad Boys and tempers getting so hot that Jeff Van Gundy is biting Alonzo Mourning's ankle. But now, they might as well wear dresses if they are gonna be playing like *******.
