It depends. I had boyfriends in elementary school but it was basically a friend that we called our boyfriend or girlfriend and they weren't real relationships. If you're meaning should a 12 year old get to go on dates and kiss boys and stuff of that nature then I say no. That's just saying that soon it'll be ok for them to have sex and be irresponsible and that's where 14 year old mothers come from. I dont think kids should date until they are 16.

Umm well depends on the person....If your asking us that your 12 and you dont have a boyfriend and should you then no because you should never be going around and looking for a boyfriend because then you are looking for it for the wrong reasons. But if your saying that you would like to know if we think its ok to go out with someone at 12 then yes but only if you know to resit sexual temptations and you have boundaries and you also are having a boyfriend for fun and just to look around and not because you want him to fill something you don't have or because everyone else has one or you feel lonely or you think your ugly or you parents don't love you because a boyfriend wont fix that only you can with Gods help. I think 12 year olds should have dozens of boyfriends - and this sort of friendship situation should last until she is in her 20's and graduates from college and is starting a career - then she can narrow the field some if she is wanting marriage and family - Now, ask me if I think 12 year olds should date - NO! Just have lots of friends - boy and girls and enjoy your childhood - don't get all muddled down with stuff that should be left alone till you are older - there is plenty of life to go through - don't rush it!

It depends. When I was in middle school, all the popular kids had boyfriends. I mean it wasn't a kissing, going out on dates type of thing; just that they had a "boyfriend" that they were "going out" with. 12 year old kids shouldn't have so much pressure. That's why a lot of girls start to have sex younger and younger. So no, not unless it's something like just I have a boyfriend...but not the kissing & dating thing.

No..is not okay...... Is okay to have a male best friend but not really ready for a "boyfriend" Kissing and sex is just too soon too young......I think 15 is a great age to start kissing and later in life @ 17 or 18 is okay to have sex.
Sex before 18 is called rape ! if the two of you are under the age of 18 is called promiscuous or lust. What ever you do protect your body and your mind! Remember you are not getting married you are just in lust not love at age 12!

I dont think that a 12 year old SHOULD have a boyfriend, but i don't think they can't. It's all up to you. Just try to keep it safe and don't go too far with your relationship. Remember, you have your whole entire life to find the right person. For now, just try to be a kid.

When my son was 12 (he's 14 now) they "went together" but that just involved being friends at school and passing notes.

He does go on occasional dates now. Usually to a church youth group activity or one house or the other or maybe a movie. I had thought I wouldn't let him date until he was 16 but he is really mature and trustworthy so....

When his half-sister was younger, her mother wouldn't let her date until she was almost 18. That was ridiculous. I bet she was sneaking off all the time. I know when she was 16 she took off by herself and drove 400 miles to visit a male "friend" at college one weekend.

If they are basically boyfriend/girlfriend in name only I think it is OK. No dating yet.

I'm 19, I just graduated highschool last yr, and my lil bro is 14. She should not have a bf believe me. My little brothers freinds at 14 are bi-sexuals having sex with boys and girls. At age 12 these kids were already fooling around. Prolly not much you can do to stop her from having a bf tho. What kids do that parents don'tknow about is amazing trust me. Don't ever be so niave to think you know what your kids doing!

No, I believe at the age of twelve life is becoming really difficult already with all the changes that begin to happen in your body, and you really don't understand what's happening. Also, there are so many emotions that come with having a boyfriend/girlfriend, and I believe twelve year olds are not ready to deal with these emotions. Have fun being a kid, you are only one once. enjoy it while it last.
