You have a lot of answers already, but hell why not.
It is when your ovaries put the egg into the womb so it can be fertilized by the male sperm.
It happens at a midpoint between periods and you have a temperature of about 1 degree for a couple of days and maybe a little cramping a little irritable. That is what ovulating means
This is the only time a woman can become pregnant in the period cycle. her fertile days.

Count 14 days from the day you start your period, that is when you are ovulating. However if you are sexually active you will want to add 3 days before your ovulation and 3 days after. Sperm can live outside of the body for 72 hours. Your best bet is use a condom or the pill, or don't have sex at all.

Ovulation is the release of a mature egg (ovum) from the ovarian follicle. Each menstrual cycle, several ovarian follicles begin to mature and develop under the influence of pituitary hormones. Usually only one follicle develops fully. While the other follicles recede, this dominant follicle produces an egg which will be released and which can be fertilized. The growing follicle secretes increasing amounts of the hormone estrogen. Following peak estrogen production, there is a surge of luteinizing hormone (LH). The LH surge triggers the release of the mature egg from its follicle. This is ovulation. You can't really feel it but it happens about 3 days before your period and at this time you are more likely to get pregnant

ovulation puts out a certain odor(that only dogs can smell)... kind of like what female dogs do. Females are much more horny during such a period as well. So, in such a case, as a female dog is "in heat". Perhaps we could connect the two and say it like this.
An ovulating woman is much like a female dog in heat.
Hey.......... I had to....... Ya gotta admit, that is FUNNY! And... it just might be true.... Yikes!

Ovulating is a point in the menstrual cycle usually before your period when the egg is mature and is in its cycle and ready to conceive. You know this when you have a higher body temperature, when you get more vaginal secretions and when you you are soon expecting to get your period.

There are tests that you can buy, usually near the health and beauty section, that will tell when you are ovulating.
