Scottish actor Sean Connery says it is OK to hit women, do you agree with him?

In a 1987 interview with US chat show hostess Barbara Walters, actor Sean Connery said it was OK to hit women if they deserved it or needed it to keep them in line. He had made similar remarks in a 1965 interview with Playboy magazine.

The Scottish Daily Record reported yesterday 24 June that Connery pulled out of an interiew when hewas told he would be asked about his views on hitting women

although it was inappropriate he was joking and saldy in 1965 people did joke about that

and no I dont agree - I think there are very few times when you can/should hit a woman - self defence being one

That's crazy. Saying that it's okay to hit women is saying that they're lesser than men. It's hard to believe that so many people have been working so hard for equality (and not just between men and women, but also between people of different races, religions, social status, and every other little difference people have), and yet people like this still exist.

yeah, twenty years ago , I had this psycho girlfriend from hell; she called the police on me 47 times : every friday nite when she get boozed up. 47 times the city attorney threw the battery charges into round file.Then i found out about this when i was getting a security clearance to work for the government.(which I received) I never hit a woman. but I can understand his point of view. not agree with it. She called me a couple of months ago from Seattle. I was polite and said No Thanks

Normally no. But with strident feminists? That's one of the reasons that they are so strident, because they have already calculated that you won't hit them. And If you should lose your rag, because some of them are very nasty, then they have always got the law to protect them. I am not just talking about the criminal law, there's also employment law, ie. sexual harassment etc., not to mention the domestic courts. They are quite happy to play victim when it suits them because they feel fireproofed.

If they want to behave like aggressive men then they have no right to expect to be treated like ladies or defenceless females.

Play the game and abide by the usual male/female protocols.
Also, it is not alright for women to hit men and expect to get away with it. It happens a lot, but men tend not to report it. Moreover, you can harass and provoke people by shouting verbal abuse and constant nagging, this can often be worse than physical assault, assuming that it is not over the top and disproportionate.

It is never ok for a man to hit a woman. By that same token, ladies....it is never ok for woman to slap, hit, or kick a man, just because she knows he won't hit her back. That makes you just as low a guy that hits a woman.
