In the movie, instead of cash money, years of life are traded or sold. The movie follows a male character's growth. I remember the male character is allowed to visit this "secret" place that everyone is allowed to visit once in their life. Here at this place you can ask for a favor and if the "monk-like" man wishes he can grant your request. This is all I remember, and I've never met anyone who knows what I'm talking about. It may have been made in the 80s.

Logan's Run ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074812/ ) was the first that came to mind -- but the plot was a bit different than what you describe. I went to imdb and found out that they're remaking it for next year! Doesn't anyone have an original thought in hollywood anymore?
I'm looking for other similar films...

Oh yeah, I remember that movie. I loved it too. I'll search for the name. Thanks for reminding me of it.
At the end of the movie, the main character had already spent all his years, and he was standing ny the porthole leading to deathm, begging people to spare him some minutes, but no one gave them to him.
