Both sexes, but especially men, are turned on by the smell of vanilla. Interestingly enough, vanilla is very close to the smell of mother's milk. Likewise, both sexes, but especially women, are turned on by the smell of sandalwood, which is apparently similar to a certain masculine pheremone. And both like the smell of "baby powder" but that's because baby powder resembles many of the musky scents that are presumably aphrodisiacs, not because they like powdering babies' butts.

I personally find certain smells to be a great turn on. There's nothing that gets me in the mood faster than a glass of red wine, some candle light, and a stick of nag champa incense (which contains sandalwood, among other fragrances). I also find the smell frankincense, lavender, jasmine, myrrh, ylang ylang, and rose very sensual.

One surprising scent that women find very sexy, at least when combined with other scents is none other than licorice or anise! For men, it's cinnamon. Go figure!

So very true. It's not a particular scent for everyone. It has to do with our pheremones. Whether we are aware of it or not, we pick our mates based on how they smell, their natural body odor.
My biggest turn off is cigarette smoke. My biggest turn on is a good-smelling man! See? Both are scents.
