disconnect the old gas lines and remove the gas tanks...the grill should be just fine for coal. You can even remove the hard ware that distributes the gas on the inside of the grill with the right hardware...But don't try to convert it back afterwords...if you decide you want a gas grill later you will have to buy new..(or used) because you will risk leaks in the fittings. If you are just after the charcoal taste in the grill, don't forget that there are briskets that can be put into a gas grill that will give you the charcoal or smoked flavor with out having to disassemble the grill.
