Because they can, and no we can't.

Are you talking about where they herd them to shore and kill them? I saw that on TV and it was absolutely DISGUSTING. I believe they feel that, by killing the dolphins, there will be more fish for them to harvest.
It's not just Japan, killings happen all over the world. And the answer is money and no regard for life. Fishing fleets destroy so many animals other than the fish they set out for. Dolphins, turtles, birds, seals, whales, sharks...you name it. And don't forget about killing the baby seals for skins. That also is abhorrent. This is just another reason why I am ashamed to be a member of the human race.

Okay, so you object to Japan killing dolphins so that they don't deplete the fish stock.
Do you object to farmers killing foxes to stop them depleting the chicken stock? Or shooting dogs that 'worry' the sheep, which might cause them to miscarry or die of fright - or they may even be killed and eaten by the dog?
Do you object to the cruel treatment of 'factory' chickens?
http://www.upc-online.org/thinking/lifeofhen.htm
Or the cruel way animals are 'farmed' and then slaughtered for food?
http://www.earthsave.org/news/ff.htm
Do you object to a poor mother sheep having her little lamb stolen from her? Just so it can end up on YOUR plate?
Do you approve of it when people from other countries come and take fish from YOUR national waters? Making it so there's less for YOUR fishermen to catch?
Be careful before you criticise others - you know what they say about people in glass houses...!
And what about the field crops? Wheat, rice, etc. What do you think happens to the cute little field-mice who were living in the crop when it's harvested? And how do you suppose farmers stop rabbits eating vegetable crops? Poor little Peter Rabbit - or is it the Flopsy bunnies? No, how about Bugs bunny??!
I'm sorry if I sound hostile to you, I'm not really. Frankly, the entire human race should be ashamed of itself. And I DO include myself in that! So what makes you think it's so much worse to kill pests called 'dolphins' than it is to kill pests called 'rats'?
Unfortunately it's impossible for humans to live without killing other creatures. Even vegetarians are indirectly responsible for the death of billions of mice and rabbits! And let's not even mention the insects we destroy to protect our food supply!!!!Who's going to protect those?
It's too easy for you to point the finger at another country, just because they kill 'pests' that don't affect you!

The authorities should implement more strict rules regarding this matter.....they must take immediate actions against the illegal poachers.More advertisements on "Save The Dolphins" should be placed or aired.Regular campaigns on how to stop this cruel activitiy should be organized by the local or international governmental organizations......."Be Kind To Animals".......
