Hi Josh_H

For a while I was sick of being gay and so determined I was straight. Then I was sick of being straight and determined I was gay again.... I'm Bi and went through that hell of never being happy with what I thought I was for a good few years.

Chill. You can only find happiness, once you've recognised and accepted who you are and what matters to you.

Only in terms of being sick of feeling like an outsider. It gets kind of sad when I see hetero couples going about their life freely without ridicule--they can hold hands in public, kiss in public, be together in public...get married. It's illegal in all but one or two states for gays to marry, and as for the other things, we can do them, but in many instances, there will be repercussions. I know some people may say, "So what if people have a problem with it", but the truth is, it adds a heck of a lot of stress to life where there shouldn't be.

But, it was the same way for bi-racial couples not to long ago in the States. And the hate towards bi-racial couples seems to be a thing of the past, now. So that give me great hope for gay couples.

In the beginning I'm guessing a lot of people feel that way. The toughest part (for me) about being gay is the beginning. You're only a teenager (or in my case 9), and you're suddenly faced with this huge new problem. I say problem not to being gay, but the negative attention that seems to come along with it. You don't understand what is happening to you and you don't understand why you don't feel like everyone else. When you finally understand your self it becomes somewhat easier, now you have to except yourself. Fighting you're feelings and emotions is truly a horrible way to live.

I was never suicidal but I feel the constant need to bring this up. As I mentioned earlier when you finally accept yourself your life tends to get easier, but unfortunately some people never get that chance. The gay population makes up roughly 2-5% (estimates of course), but over 30% of the teen suicide is related to being gay/bi. It's not a subject you'll ever hear brought up because let's face it who cares about teenage fags (I apologize for that).

And what about the thousands and thousands of kids that have emotional problems because of the tremendous about of pressure they have to face. I believe that there is no way for these young teenagers to understand them-self. Then there is this constant talk of how they are born that way and they have to change because it's wrong and disgusting. Why do you think most of us are still in hiding, and yes call it what you want we are hiding from society.

Not sick, just tired of being singled out. But I wouldn't trade the feeling of being with someone I love for anything in the world.

Nope, I embrace my orientation as a significant part of who I am.

The only thing I get sick of is people treating us gays like crap because we happen to be gay.

Just tired of people looking at me like I just swallowed a mouse when I tell them that I am bisexual....which is just as taboo as being gay in this society. I enjoy my sexuality...and my ability to enjoy both males and females intimately....it is nothing to get bored about...just others reactions are becoming quite tiring.

there are many tugs for people going through same sex attractions. I guess feeling sick happens when you are in a
path you least likely to take to deal with your same sex attractions and not even aware that you are in it.
Inside you maybe feeling that being gay is in conflict to what you came to believe or value so far in life.

The paths i knew of are the following:
1. mainstream gay --- like the fab five of queer eye for the straight guy
2. masculine gay --- like what you see in most porn materials
3. g0y movement --- masculine men who loves other men but dont fit the mainstream gay label and lifestyle.
4. ex-gay movement --- people who wants to reclaim their latent heterosexuality. may come in spiritual form like Christianity and may come in carnal form like reparative therapy and gender affirmative therapy.

whatever path you take, is irrespective of what others believe...
just be honest of yourself... good luck buddy, Michael
