the oil and filter have been changed. oil level is good. fuel pump and filter are good. is getting gas. after it shuts off, it will not run on its own for approximately 5 minutes. if i hold the start button down, it will continue to run, but dies when i let go. it seems to be something electrical. is it equipped with any type of timer?

when i slide the generator out and take the electric panel cover off, it runs correctly. what is the problem? obviously it is overheating in its compartment, but why? what is the remedy? why does the electric panel get extremely hot when in place? and why does it kill when this area gets hot?

Check the oil level in the generator. If it is low the low oil sensor will cut the generator off.

i just got done fixing one of these on a 95 Winnebago,,and i found a fuel line that was collapsing on it,,when it would cool off a little,,and the pressure would fall off it would start back again,,it also could be the plug,s heating up,,the will shut it down also,,on your model,,it may be equipped with a low oil sensor,,if the oil get,s dirty that too will shut it off,,what it simply does if it don't get enough oil pressure to keep the switch activated,,it will shut off the engine,,it was designed to help save the engine in case of low oil or very dirty oil,,but often went bad,,causing people to go off and buy new generator,s,,when they did,nt need them, before people were made wise of this device,,a lot of people spent a lot of money,,and did,nt have to,,take your time,,and check it over real good,,im sure you,ll find it,,and have it running in no time,,hope this help,s you.

If it runs for five and then cuts off, it might be lack of proper cooling.
