Small-mindedness is all it can be attributed to. After all, my being bi is only one aspect of the total package that is me. Some people are scared of GLBT- folk because they think we'll somehow corrupt them. Then there are the misconceptions that because we're different, in that regard, we must be paedophiles or murderous S.O.B.s. My favourite (can't you just see that sarcasm) is that Bi-folk are singlehandedly responsible for HIV in the straigt community!
People stay in the closet for various reasons and I respect their decision to do so. I'll like a person or I won't and that I should find out their sexuality is non-straight will change my view of the person from five minutes before, is ridiculous. It is so sad that this is exactly what happens to people.
I'm grateful that you took the time to ask this question and let me have my rant! Bless you for caring about your friend.

The society we live in discriminates against lesbians and gay men and bisexuals because they are different. It's the same with gothics. People expect gothics to be a certain way, but we are not what everyone thinks. I just came out of the closet. Im bisexual. and if a friend is gay then you should support them no matter what as they would for you.

Because we are there. I am bisexual and deep in the closet. I have told one person whom I work with and he is an older gay man. He has been very kind to me but knows I am not going to come out and is very cool with that. I have not had the courage to come out to anyone else becuase I have too much to loose if I do because I am married. I dont plan to cheat on my wife but that doesn't change the way I feel and my desires for male companionship. As a bisexual I am discriminated by both gay and straight.

What humans fear, they seek to destroy. It's a matter of ignorance, just like with racism. Many of them are not gay or lesbian and simply do not understand how someone else could be. Some of the ones who discriminate secretly question there own sexuality. The same old story of being so insecure you have to tear someone down to build yourself up.
Yes, I do have many gay and lesbian friends. Some are out, some are in the closet. I am bi and very much in the closet. My family doesn't understand how I can even be friends with "them" let alone be one myself.

~Being gay or lesbian is something that has recently been draged to front stage. Because it's a subject thats been brought up so abrutly people havent really had a time to adjust. Most people are accepting, but some arrent. If you ever whatch "Comedy Central" think of when Ron White does a joke about how stupid it is to be homophobic. It always makes me happy.
~One of my friends told me he was gay. I was a little suprised. I told him he "hood it well" as a joke and he laughed. Nothing special happened. Our relationship never changed. In fact he we were more truthful to eachother.
~All I can say is that it will take time before people will really accept gays and lesbians. If they say something ignore it and look towards something better.

Because we are different that's pure and simple. To the Ron white fan, I agree with you completely. I'm surprised that his viewers (So called "Conservatives") let him get away with that?
Please stop asking this question, it has already been anwserd at least 25 times if will just search. This area is better suited to help out individuals with their needs (support, advice), such wide and open questions really have no benefit for anyone.

People discriminate against gays and lesbians because of what society and the f****king bible tells people about gays. The truth is if people didn't live every moment of their life by the bible they wouldn't be so full of hate. I agree people should be judged by their charcter, not for choosing which person they wanna love.

Sadly people fear what they don't understand. Love is love. I too have a bisexaul friend that's a girl and she has had to deal with a lot of ignorance and sterotypes. People are coming around but it's going to take time and education about differences.

I'm gay, and growing up, I've experienced stuff that no child should ever experience. Certain people are disgusting immature bigots. Supporting your friend, and loving him for who he is, not what he is, is what makes you a good person. I don't care what religion a certain person follows, it gives them no right to harass another person.

Because they are not " GAY " many of them are very mal-adjusted people that have extremely violent and horrific life styles. Virtually every mass murderer has been homosexual. Many homosexuals are very obnoxious in constantly making sexual advances. Many of their behaviors are sickening.
When homosexuals learn to live like normal people, they will be treated like normal people.
