How can poverty be reduced in Third and Fourth World countries?

What would you do, even at the comfort of your home, to help 3rd world countries in eliminating or minimizing poverty and sufferation?

Instead of making loans to these countries that they can't repay, we need to start businesses there. Maybe like when the Isralis started the first Kibbutzes. When you start a business, they might have to have a private army for defence, or like the old mining towns, where the business supplied the housing. We could also expand the micro loan program, where amounts under say $500 dollars are given to individuals to start a business. There was a lady with 3 daughters who who was loaned $300 and she bought 6 sheep. She spins yarn and they all weave and the loan was paid off and they have income for life.

It really depends on the country (by the way, I don't think there's any sub-class of "fourth world" countries- just third world)
As of now, many powers (including the U.S.) are taking advantage of these third world countries through various loans which are impossible to pay off, and sending these countries further into debt. This is all part of globalization.

A good book to read about this topic, if you're interested, is "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man," by John Perkins. (I'm currently reading it and highly recommend it).

This may sound harsh to some, But I think they should learn birth control. There starving yet they keep bring children in the world they cant feed. Im all in with the feed the hungry, but we do forget one thing and it cracks me up.....Here in America we have plenty of poor folks that are in need of help, we dont get much help from the goverment at all.
