please show me step by step i like to see how its works because i had done all the step but seem like at the end i get close when u have to time by .1/2 so please help me here. i will tell u what the books want me to do and also what the problem is "plot each point and form the triangle ABC. verify that the triangle is a right trianle. find its area. here is the problem "A=(4,-3); B=(0,-3); C=(4,2). help me please

To prove that it is a right triangle you can you pythagorean theorem.
First graph the triangle...i really can't help you with that.
From A to B is 4 units
B to C is sqrt 41 units. by using the distantance formula
sqrt( (x2-x1)^2 + (y2- y1)^2)
C to A is 5 units
So now for the p theorem
x^2 + y^2 = z^2
4^2 + 5^2 = sqrt 41^2
16 + 25 = 41
41 = 41
since this is true the triangle is a rt triangle.

Find graph paper draw X and Y axis according to straight line across 90 degree like (+) horizontal line Right end X and Left end X', Name vertical straight line Anterior end Y and posterior end Y'. Where across the lines is the 0 value then find the coordinate points given A, B, and C
Given value for A point = (X=4, Y'=-3)
B point = (X=0, Y'=-3)
C point = (X=4, Y=2)
According to value take the point on X and Y axis and join ABC point with straight line it will be right triangle. One angle will be 90 degree and other two will be 30 degree.
Please draw this triangle on graph paper so you can understand easily.

I'm sure you know how to plot the points and count to find the length of each side of the triangle. I am also sure you have the formula for the area of a triangle, so here is a hint:
Multiplying by 1/2 is the same as dividing by 2.
E-mail me if you have any more questions.
(I gave the hint instead of the whole thing because you need to learn what you are doing and why so you will remember it for a test.)
Good luck.

You are given the coordinates to plot on a sheet of graph paper.
A=(4, -3)
draw a (X,Y) axis and plot your points. The horizontal line is your X Axis and your Vertical line is your Y axis.
your first number in your pair is (4) which you plot on the X line. The second number (-3) which you plot on the Y line.
Do the same for all 3 points.
Draw the lines and connect them. AND WALAH! You have a triangle.
I hope this helps! :)
(been years since i was in school) lol.

Well, the x-coordinates of A & C is the same, as are the y-coordinates of A & B. This forms a 90-degree angle, thus making it a right triangle.
The formula for area of a triangle is:
A = 0.5 (base*height)
A = 0.5 (20)
A = 10

We can't show you, that is a question about graphs. Draw a graph and plot those points. Join them up to make a triangle.
Verify it's a right angle by measuring the length of the two short sides, squaring them, adding them together and square rooting them. If that equals the length of the long side, it is a right angle.
Find the area by timesing the height by the width and halfing the answer.

the numbers are the x,y coordinates... x is horizontal, y is vertical
so for A, x=4 and y=-3 so find 4 on the x axis and -3 on the y axis and where they meet is your point A and do the other points the same way

i got an average D+ this year in geometry. i don't think i can help you out! sorry, your screwed!
ask another one of your classmates. or, better yet, just call up your teacher and talk to her. maybe your parents would know.
i think most of us here at Yahoo Answers are all too lazy to answer a math question now!
