The reason for the differences in opinion are this... If you *know* that your husband is very fertile, then every day is better. If you *know* that he is less fertile, then every other day is better. If you don't know (the case for most couples at first), you have to pick one.
A man who is very fertile can have sex every day and have a good chance of having a sperm reach the egg. But if a man is low or borderline, he will have a better chance if he has *two* days to get enough sperm ready. You *don't* need to wait 5 days (as someone here keeps suggesting) in either case. And you *don't* need to worry that the sperm aren't "potent" enough every day (just that there are enough of them; if there's actually a physical problem with the sperm, waiting won't help!!) or that there's enough semen. Semen is just a vehicle for getting the sperm into your body. If the sperm are plentiful and healthy, then you have your best chance of conceiving.

The gyno told us every other day for a year under 35 and for six months over. With that, he wanted me to chart my basal temperature. I would take my temp when I woke up before doing absolutely anything in the morning, including peeing. Then I'd chart it later. When you ovulate, you're temperature will show a spike or at least it should, mine didn't. If you done this for this length of time and you're not pregnant, see a fertility specialist. (I know that having sex that often is work, not fun.)

It is not the number of attempts that is important. To get pregnant you must have sex on a day that your eggs are being released.
After the 3rd day from the day that menses started put a thermometer into your mouth and check your body temperature every morning before you start turning in bed. The best time is at about 4 a.m. Maintain a chart. You will find that on one day the body temperature drops from 1/2 degree to one degree. This is the day that your eggs are being released. If you want to get pregnant this is the day that you must have sex.
After having sex you must stay in bed for about 30 mins with your knees bent up so that the sperms will not pour out - to enable them to travel up.
Get your husband to save his sperms in the testacles for at least 5 days before sex to enable them to mature well to do their job.

I have heard it's best to have sex every other day to every 3 days. The sperm need that time to become more "potent".
Also, right after sex, you should lay still for at least 20 minutes, do not urinate right away. I too am trying to get pregnant. Good luck, hope everything works out!

it takes 24 hours for a man to produce a full load of sperm, so once a day should be enough. both of you eat your veggies and take your vitamins and excersise!!! most of all, don't go to bed with each other with just thoughts of getting pregnant on your mind, it deters the process (i've been told) because you'll be thinking of it as a means to an end and not as making love. just don't even think a bout it, and it will happen sooner or later...it took me six years, but as it ended up, that was lucky (or maybe not) for me that it took so long!!!!

Depending on the length of your cycle, you should ovulate about 14 days BEFORE your period. So you should try to have sex at least every other day one week before your fertile time until you ovulate. Good luck and baby dust to you!
