It depends on the employer. A mom and pop grocery store is probably barely making it in today's market. But a successful business can afford to pay well for its help. A person needs to get a job with a company that can afford him. He needs skills that are in demand. He needs to make an effort to obtain employment that will support him and his family. Rarely are well-paying jobs handed out to the unqualified.

It's probably not so much the employer but the position and the job market. Unskilled labor, for example, does not pay well, no matter who is the employer. And the chances of getting a substantial raise are not all that great. But if you get an education and some skills, your wages will go up even if you stay with the same company.

why does everyone think every job is worth more than what someone is willing to pay to have the work done. It's called find another job or educate yourself to make yourself more valuable.
