Like the other posters have said Australia does reciev greater amounts of UV light reaching our continent, however Australia is located near the equator which is another reason why its easier to get sunburnt than china.
As well as China conrtaining laot of photochemical smog and pollution which traps majority of sources of UV and produces more ozone.

Australia is the UV capital of the World, especialy Western Australia and Queensland. We have an index system of 1 -18. 1 is night or zero UV and 18 is the amount of UV in a thermo- nuclear blast. 11 is classed as severe and the UV in Perth, where I live can be over 15 for weeks on end and it rarely drops below 9 even in winter. So, to put it simply there is know place on Earth that you could get more sun burnt than Australia. Jules, Australia.

Ultraviolet radiation is stronger closer to the equator. That is why dark-skinned people come originally from the equator because it is an advantage in those regions. As Australia is generally closer to the equator, that explains why you get sunburnt more easily.

It also depends on the season. I have attached a UV map of the worl showing UV levels higher in the northern hemisphere because it is summer there. If you were in China in winter, late autumn or early spring, the radiation would not be as strong as it it currently is,

Last summer, I got a sunburn by accident. I didn't know I'd be in the sun for so long. I'm an indoor girl. And I never tan after I burn.

Australia is under the hole in the ozone layer. More UV light reaches it than any other place. China is under a very thick layer of smog, and lesser amounts of UV light reach the surface.

Probably the hole in the ozone is biggest in the Southern hemisphere and Australia just happens to receive the highest amount of UV radiation, with it being in the Southern hemisphere and all that.

Australia has a much bigger problem with UV rays. It is extremely important to wear sun block to prevent skin cancer.

China has massive amounts of pollution and smog.
Their industrial economy, high pollution industries and low environmental standards make breathing in China hazardous to anyone's health. Shame on them!
