What should I do for my mother. She currently lives with my dad and his girlfriend, no job, no place to go...

She has tried to get unemployment but was unable to. She is unable t find a job at her current location, she has been a graphics designer for almost 20 years... any ideas? She is getting sick living with her ex-husband with no place to go, I am a college student so I can not hlep her out finacilly,,,, thanks

Sorry to be the one to tell you this, but your mother needs a mother. It is not your responsibility to help her get out of her current situation. She's an adult. She can go out and get a job as a waitress or a store saleswoman if she's so unhappy. Sounds to me like she enjoys being a martyr and whining about how abused she is. She needs to get a life and you need to let her do it on her own.

This is a difficult situation for you and her. You can help her with her job search. Quite frequently a supplement to education information on the resume can make a difference. Explore the possibility of being more employable by taking a course. Different areas have different employment levels and provide aid in different quantity's. If she qualifies for social service, she should have a case worker. If she doesn't, than help her get one. Graphics Design may not provide jobs like it used to, research other areas where this talent may be useful. Although it's illegal to discriminate because of age, don't think for a minute that people don't do it. Look for possible employers that are more apt to hire older people. Good Luck.

Perhaps its time your mother revisit other career paths such as the lower paying jobs factory work or cleaning its never too late to start over again and maybe you should move in together and things could turn for the better , good luck
