I'm barely 5'9", about 212 (but somewhat muscular). I know my frame does not give me much leverage in terms of velocity. Are there any excercises that I can do to increase the speed of my throws? When I play pitching games at carnivals, I find it quite embarassing that I manage to only hit about 65-73 mph according to those radars. And that's the speed of my "fastball". I feel as if I'm putting everything into my throw, with little result. Could the radar be wrong? Am I just weak? Lol.... Billy Wagner is about the same height as me, but he throws fireballs. Can anyone help?

You're probably not weak, but 5'9" & weighing 212 pounds, be it somewhat muscular or not is a bit too much, and believe it or not the muscular part isn't going to help you all that much. As in almost every sport you have to keep your waist line slim, it's the center of everything, for agility, speed etc. I have no idea how old you are, but if you're 16 or older, I would advise you to work on your mechanics, be aware of where you're releasing the ball, how you're griping the ball, and depending how serious you are about pitching, practice with a weighted baseball, start off just tossing it to someone from about 15 feet and gradually working your way to pitching it from 60 feet 6 inches, this will strenghten and condition your arm as compared to lifting weights to bulk them up. Most importantly work on control, not just speed. Most major league hitters can knock the crap out of a 95 mph fast ball, so don't just rely on a straight fast ball, you also have to have a fast ball that has movement on it, be it up or down or away, you also got to work on off speed stuff. One last thing.....pray that you grow, being as I was an All American pitcher in high school and college and being 6'9 & 245 I had naturally an advantage from the start. In high school I was clocked at 97, 98, but I had to work on my control. Good Luck !!!!

Well King, I read your other questions, and having anal sex isn't going to help your fastball. I see you lift weights, and that doesn't help either. If you're a pitcher, and you really want to improve, you should probably stop lifting weights. If you do lift weights, don't do "correct" curls and presses; they are slow and they develope large, strong, slow muscles. Instead, do "cheat" curls, where you "explode" instead of doing a slow lift. And, keep in mind that what makes a pitcher effective isn't the speed of his fastball, it's the difference in speed between his fastball and is change up, and how well he conceals the pitch, hence the "split finger fastball", which is actually a change up. Also, in Babe Ruth's book on how to play baseball, he says the 3 most important thing for a pitcher is control, control, control. Having said all that, practicing with a radar gun is good. You can see how you're doing. There's a lot of mechanics in pitching, the legs, the back, it's not all in the arm. And stay away from anal sex.

Sounds like you are built more like a catcher than a pitcher. Unless you can find a nitch pitch that makes your fastball more deceptive your last of velocity will make you ineffective.
Get a good pitching coach who can evaluate your mechanics. If that doesn't help, then there is something you may have to face. Great Velocity isn't just a matter of strength and mechanics. It is a talent as well. Some people are just able to throw faster than others.

You need longer and faster stretch to the plate.
You would need to throw all pitches this way so as to not telegraph a fastball comming.
You also need to find your best delivery style. Long overhand or sidearm or comming closer to your neck and turning your forearm over to increase the speed when combined with that of your upper arm motion.

Curling exercises, 'Roids and anal sex don't help.

artwork out at a close-by well being club. artwork on your legs, and your palms. Getting your legs greater perfect will practice you how to "push" off the mound swifter including some velocity to you fastball. do no longer forget to artwork your palms however. Getting your throwing arm greater perfect will additionally help. additionally, you need to long Toss lots. in case you nonetheless in college, possibly widely used after college pass exterior and long Toss. in case you are trying this for each week or 2, you will already see your fastball is swifter. stable success
