I'm going to give you a nothing answer right now, so I'll be able to find this a little later. Ray
Enough is enough. You have rights. 1) call the your attorney and ask him why he is not assisting you. Then tell him that you are going to call the U.S. Attorney General's office and report the case to them giving them full disclosure of what has taken place. That your attorney has been paid, the award was granted. but that he has not followed up on why SS has not paid you. I am not an attorney, but a consultant, and will work on this case for you at no charge, if you wish. We can use e-mail or phones, whichever you prefer. So many problems with today's social security, someone needs to do something and do it now. Local SS offices don't care and won't help much. We have to go to Washington. I have my sources for getting things done. Joyce

check the letter if it said retroactive pay since most retroactive pay gave you 6 months to spend the whole thing, keep all your paper in the case in a folder in order. Then go down have an outline about your case written down and keep track who you talk to the workers name tag name and number time a day who and the respond they told you, check with the main office manager. p.s.check your award letter if you sign away your right to proceed the caes. hope this help some and good luck.

If you are speaking about survival benefits for your deceased husband, you will need to file with the social security office . You cannot get disability for your deceased husband but may be eligible for a portion of his social security if he was 65 years old or older.
Try using the term Survivor's benefit instead of widow's disability. Bring a copy of his death cert. with you and his social security number.
Hey, SSI hires the handicapped and sometimes you have to spell it out in terms they are used to. Good Luck!

sounds like me. my husband died two and half years ago. my husband's name was bob and my younger son is Adam. social security had Adam dead instead. I got tired of calling them so I drove down to social security and spoke to a human. finally I told them does Adam look dead to you. they finally got in straight. social security put money in my account and the bank had put a hold on the money, mean while I am paying bills, guess what they where not getting paid because they where saying there was not money in my account and there was money there. so I suggest you go to the office and speak to a human. you see social security never makes mistakes. yea right

Hire a new lawyer to represent you in this matter. Also you should sue the first lawyer for providing inadequate council.
