(x-5)+10=x+5
IF (x-5)+10=20, then x=15
IF x=20, then (x-5)+10=25
IF (x-5)+10=0, then x=-5
IF x=500, then (x-5)+10=505
this could go on forever...was there really a point in asking this, other than to show that you are a fan of unnecessary parentheses and have created two accounts? (and, yes, i used parentheses that weren't really needed, but i didn't want to confuse you too much)

subract 10 first
(x-5) = -10
add five to both sides
