It completely depends i mean my parents bought me the iPod Video i didnt even had to ask.(well, i got to say i am a little spoiled) I dont like the xbox 360 since i already have playstations and all those stuff. But you could do the dishes and do housework for ur parents money. Or if ur dad is the manager or mom of somethinhg ask them to let you work. My dad is and some summers he lets my bro work!! Since ur 14 they wont be many jobs for u so i would stick with either begging, asking,or doing housework.
Btw:the guy on top of my ans. is rite u are young do sumtin wayyy better.

The fastest way? probably crime. but seriously: the risks are not worth it.
The real aswer is get a temp job, but what to recommend depends on what there is in your area (and the child-labor laws). best to start by asking round your relatives if you have many. No-one's gonna be eager to hire a 14 year old unless there is some sort of existing trust/relationship.

If you work 40 hours per week for 12 weeks at minimum wage you will make more than twice that amount.

Yard work. Ask family or friends if you can do odds and ends around the house for extra money. Hang signs to promote yourself.

Ask all your neighbors if they have any odd jobs you could do for them. Let them know what you are willing to do, i. e., rake leaves, mow lawns, wash cars, dogs, walk dogs, feed pets, pick up pooh, clean out gutters. You get the picture.

depends on where you live. Mow grass, sweep sidewalks, pick up trash, clean houses-inside or out. Paint, get a small job somewhere.

stop being so obsessed with your personal material possessions. your a kid, do something fun this summer if your parents allow it... you have the next 60+ years to work. you can buy all the crap you don't really need then.
