First, the fire:
The fire there because of three things. 1. Oxygen- the fire feeds off of it needs it to burn. 2. Food- Something for it to burn off of. In the case of a candle it is burning the wick which is covered in wax. The wax takes longer to burn which is why it takes longer to burn. 3. Heat- that part is obvious.

Now the reason there is heat is because the molecules in the air are moving faster. If they move fast enough it will cause a reaction that leads to fire.

Please be more specific?

If you mean, what really happens when a candle burns, chemical reactions between the cotton wick and the oxygen around it heats up and therefore a reaction is made-- fire. If you put a cup over the flame, it will go out, because the oxygen supply is cut off.

The wax is there only to support the wick.

The wax in the candle vaporizes, and that's what keeps the flame burning.

The wick holds the flame up resting on the wax.
It's actually the wax that is burning. I bet you have heard stories about people catching on fire! Actually, it's more like they were sleeping and dropped a lit cigarette in their lap. Their
clothes caught on fire (wick) and the flame at first used the clothes to burn and then ended up using their body fat (wax) as fuel! This is true!
