The blower motor resistor is defective and needs replacement. You don't mention what you have for a vehicle, but many newer Chrysler products have blower motors that are defective and pull too much amperage, which can cause the resistor to "open circuit". Of course, this can happen on any vehicle. But chances are if your vehicle is several years old, the resistor is just corroded. There is also a slim chance that the blower switch is defective, but this is not common. HTH!!

You need to replace the resistor pack in the blower motor housing. Its a an easy fix, all you need is a phillips screwdriver and some flexibility. Call your cars dealer and tell them you need a blower motor resistor pack. I did it on 2 cars. What happens is the surface mount resistors get corroded from condensation in the box, and they eventually lose their ability to slow the motor down. Its about 20 bucks. look on Discountautoparts.com they are a good outfit.

Master Tech, check the fuse for the heater fan, could be a relay, if its a ford product go under the passenger side dash and feel up there is the blower motor wire connector they go bad and a jiggle will start it up again. Go to ford and order the blaower motor connector

There is a resistor that controls the fan speeds. Replace it (not very expensive) and you will have all 4 speeds back.
