I know what they stand for, but I was wondering which will qualify you to become a doctor.

Also, after high school, how long does it take to become a doctor in England. In Canada I'm aware that it takes 7-8 years of university so I was just wondering about overseas.

Its just a difference in notation. In some countries the degree is referred to as MBChB, such as South Africa, Britain, India, Ireland, etc, but in other countries MD is more acceptable such as in the US. I dont know about other countries but in South Africa its 5-6 years to get a medical degree then 2 years of internship and then after that only do you get to specialise in a specific field. But the 5-6 years is straight out of high school.
