I'm seventeen years old and just started having sex this past year. When should I start going to see one?

You should be more responsible honey. You should've visited BEFORE you began having sex. Either way, harm's done.
Go ASAP, get yourself some BIRTH CONTROL. Get a pap smear and a pregnancy test. Who knows, you may be preggers! Anytime you have sex the possibility is there.
Questions for you:
Are you sure you're ready to handle the responsibility of a child? I was on birth control, I still got pregnant...THREE TIMES! One was aborted, but I now have two preschoolers.
Are you willing to risk getting STD'S? The majority of people out there are carriers of chlamydia. Not to mention the possibility of Herpes, HIV, etc, etc. Birth control does not prevent any number of those diseases...neither does a condom.
For me, the possibility of either of those kept me sex free for a good while, but if you feel you must then go right ahead. Just know...the world needs another teenage mom like we need another Katrina!

I would start going now. The best time to start is when you get your first period. However, now that you are sexually active you should definitely start seeing an OB/GYN to make sure that you stay healthy and so you have someone (a professional) that you can talk to about your body and what you might be concerned about. A good Dr. won't judge you but will talk with you about risks and about good safe practices with regard to your body.

really by now you should have started seeing a obgyn when you first started your period so he/she would already know your history but you can start going anytime the sooner the better

LoL you only go see an OBGYN if you are pregnant if your not pregnant go to just a gyn. and you should go every 6months to a year

As soon as you begin having sex. Get yourself on birth control ASAP before you ruin your life and get pregnant while your still a teenager.

You should have been to one prior to having sex.....protection fron STD or a pregnancy.

if your having sex you should see one a.s.a.p even if you werent your old enough to see one just to make sure everything is ok.theres other vaginal problems out there other then sexual ones
