I realise it's a bit of a daft question, but is there any truth to the belief that elephants are afraid of mice?

They are not actually afraid of mice. But there is some truth to the myth, elephants are very far-sighted. When something small, and fast comes close to them they can't see it very well and the mouse starles the elephant.

NO WAY. It's just a folktale people like to use. Look how huge an elephant is and look at how small a rat is. I know it's wrong to compare with size, but still, if you don't believe me, you can always go to a zoo and experiment.
