The music played at any funeral is supposed to represent the person. If the song you have in mind reminds others of you,gives them good memories and shows what you loved,then yes,pick Hendrix...

Your request would not be out of line at all. I have conducted a few funerals that have done stranger things than that. Just remember the funeral is not for you, but to comfort those who are left behind and a way for them to say good bye. Keep their feelings in mind when you make such a request. If you don't think any of them would mind and that is what you would like, go for it.

Arrange your funeral the way you want.
My boyfriend is doing this now as he has terminal cancer and wants to make sure all of his arrangements are done.
He is having a range of music from his cousin, Hank Williams, Jr. Patsy Cline to Jimmy Buffet. He is does not want anyone to shed any tears, and to party for his funeral. No dark clothing..he is planning on making a tape for all to view. Yes, this funeral will be different to say the least!
So, It is up to you what you want.

I don't intend to even have a funeral. My husband has instructions just to send me to the creamatory and be done with it. I won't know the difference anyway. I won't be here. I will be only a shell.

Nothing wrong with that. At my cousin's graveside they played "Little Wing" by Stevie Ray Vaughn and it was nice.
