It seems to me that many words are spelled wrong because they are text/chat versions of the words (i.e.: u, r, ne1). They are spelled that way to make them shorter. I can't figure out, though, why people add the extra t onto the word hot. Does it make them feel cool? To me, it makes them seem illiterate, annoying, and immature. I know this is mostly a rant, but I would like to know if anyone knows the real reason for this misspelling.

This is how we normal folk are able to identify the morons without having to search for them. Kind of like wearing camouflage in non natural environments. In natural environments you would be hard pressed to point out the morons, but in an urban setting, when you see someone in camouflage you can say "oh, there is a moron". Some other catch words to look for are "kewl", and "LOL". If someone you know is afflicted by this disease, please don't let on that the rest of us know, you will spoil it for all of us thinkers.

It's a play off the triple x thing..rated XXX like EXTRA dirty..by adding the extra T they are hoping to convey the message that they are EXTRA hot since they added an EXTRA T.. "That's hott", said Paris Hilton.~smiles

II tthinkk theyy arre just exaggerating on itt to show how attractivve the subjectt iss. Itt is not misspelling, it's just a wayy 2 shortenn things and save timee.(esp. if u don't type fast enough)

It's stupid and people are idiots for using however it does have some merit.
Hott puts emphasis on "hot" making the person in question extra hot or really hot.

your saying that they are text or chat versions of the word is a clue, the meaning suggested to me is "very hot", in which case, "hott" is shorter than "very (space) hot" by 4 characters. as to why not "hhot", your guess is as good as mine

That hott is for meaning that your are hotter than than hot. So your like really hott. yeah...my boyfriend uses it when he emails me...he uses t in hot more than once or 2ice. Sometimes just the plain way.
