You can use the Memory Advisor at www.crucial.com. You select your Computer's manufacturer, model name/number, etc. and it will tell you the exact memory that will be compatible, along with the max you can use.
If you allow it, they will download a small program that will look at your pc and tell you what is already installed.
If you want, you can order the correct memory right then. I have used Crucial many times. They make their own, not just sell others' products.

Best program I found is Belarc will tell you all about your software, hardware, product keys Its good If you use print out a report and save. It has a lot of information about your computer. Yes it will tell you how much ram you can install and what type. Plus Plus

This tiny program called CT BIOS will give you all the information on your motherboard you will need including its maximum memory capacity, type of memory it can use and the manufacturers identification number.
