I have not started my period yet but have been having the signs that I will. To be prepared, what should I use when I first get my period. They do not tell us at school. I do gymnastics so I could not use a pad. So what type of tampon do WOMEN ONLY recomend?

Tampax Lites are good for someone who hasn't used tampons before. But it is a good idea to ask your mom for her advice, if possible.

If you want to start using tampons DO NOT use cardboard ones.. oh they're a pain in the butt to get used to if your not used to inserting tampons yet.. so definitaly get plastic tampons. I suggest any Tampax kind, I use Tampax Pearl and I really like them.

Just remember you must NOT leave the same one in for LONGER then 8 hours!!!

Best of luck hun!

Tampon Pearls, they are just so much more reliable and leak proof. Not to mention easy to insert and don't hurt and even if you put it in wrong the first time it's not as uncomfortable as those other cheap brands out there.
If you are light light, go with light. If your inbetween always go for med-heavy, and if your heavy, go for heavy-overnight.

I recommend since you do gymnastics to wear one of those panty liners also, just incase your tampon was to leak. (It could happen)
Also it is said you should only wear your tampon about 5hrs. So I wouldn't go over that, or you'll have risks of getting TSS, and you don't want that.

I hope this helps for you.

Tampax Pearl should be okay for you being that you won't really have heavy periods yet. But for Heavy flows, Tampax is the WORST. O.B is actually one of the best brands out there.

I recommend just the regular tampax tampons. I find that they fit the best & absorb the best, which is what you'll need if you are participating in gymnastics.

That is a tough question. As for pads...now with all the choices we have you can use one while doing gymnastics. As for tampons, go see your Doctor. He/She can correctly help you with the level you may need and as for brand...that is something you can check out for yourself. Sometimes if you write a letter to a manufacturer, they may send a sample for you to try for free....this way you don't have to spend alot of money if you don't like it.

Since you're just starting out I would go w/ Tampax Slender or Regular Size.

I agree with all the other answers, I'm a Pearls girl myself. Just make sure you check the box to buy the right kind. I would think you would need the lightest. If you're not sure what I mean, read the box.

Tampax is best. The pearl plastic is good. Also they now have the compact ones that are half the size because u have to put it together, but it fits in your pocket.
