Manifold absolute pressure and manifold absolute temperature. The Map sensor is ususally on the fire wall and has a vacuum line going to it and three wires. The Mat sensor is on the intake manifold or air intake and looks like a coolant temp sender with two wires. Jules, Automotive lecturer. Australia.

The MAP sensor is placed on the brink of the intake in between the firewall and the valve disguise of this motor. i might hesistate to swap it even although. i became a GM mechanic for years and that i've got purely replaced a pair of those sensors touching directly to their operation. a lot of those I replaced by using actual harm. instead those sensors many times sign up a subject it particularly is concerning a vacuum leak or a misfire of a few variety. additionally you've got a bad connection to it, yet a lot greater possibly a chop up hose interior the vacuum furnish to it. Recheck all the motor stuff earlier dropping your funds on changing a sensor which in all liklihood continues to be ok. good success.

MAP=manifold absolute pressure
MAT=manifold air temp

Occasionally the emission sticker under the hood will diagram where these components are. I would suggest going to the local library and using the shop manual (Mitchell, or Haynes.)
