Don't peel them. That will only make the nail weaker and can make it vulnerable to infection. Leave it be and see in about a week if it's gotten better (but tell your parents about it as well). Nails are different for everyone. My small toe has a very, very little nail and I can sometimes cut it so low that there's barely a nail there (disgusting, I know, but it's just to show that everyone is different).
If the lines don't start to fade you should see a doctor. Also, if it's a matter of weak nails then you can try certain polishes that have special nutrients in them that helps strengthen the nail.

Are you sure you are only 12, sounds like the toes of an elderly person.
Keep your feet clean, soak them in a foot tub or basin of hot soapy water and a 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar (as hot as you can stand without burning) once a day until your problem clears up. Your problem is most likely a fungus. Your toenails have cuticles just like your fingernails, keep them trimmed and pushed back as you would your fingernail cuticles. After your problem has cleared up, soak your feet in the vinegar and liquid soap solution and care for your feet at least one a month. Care for your feet well and they will carry you through life well.
If there is something else you think I should know about your problem or if you need to contact me for more information, please do, at; meimmoody@yahoo.com or by clicking on my screen name under my photo.

Sounds like your nails are pretty weak. Go see a dermatogolists if you think its somehting really serious or if it reall bothers you. Weak nails split and separate, and have layers that peel of the best thing is to see a professional to make sure it isn't somehting else.

Some dietary deficiencies cause lines in nails; you should show your parents or your school nurse, or tell your doctor the next time you see him/her.

Go See a PODIATRIST, ask your parents to even go see your family doctor, then they can refer you to a foot doc. A Dermoltologist usually just deals with skin.

IN ORDER TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION I WOULD HAVE TO ASK YOU.....ARE YOUR TOENAILS REAL BRITTLE AND BLUEISH IN COLOR? IF NOT I WOULD SAY GO TO A FOOT DOCTOR BECAUSE YOU EITHER HAVE A NAIL DISORDER OR A NAIL DISEASE. YOU DIDN'T GIVE QUITE ENOUGH INFORMATION BUT IF YOU TRY AGAIN I WILL TRY TO HELP AS MUCH AS I CAN.

I think you should tell your parents then when you go in for your next scheduled checkup they can help you remember to tell your doctor so that he/she can look at them and if neccesarry refer you to a podiatrist (foot specialist).
