the best thing to do for the turtle is to let it go. also, turtles can be carriers of salmanilla so be careful

if you want to keep the turtle you should set up an aquarium and it should be a good size because the turtle will want to swim but also to be on "land" you should also use a good filtration system as turtles are VERY dirty animals and you will need to clean your filter once a week. you can buy turtle food and feeder fish at your local pet store.

they are a big responsibility and the most humane thing to do would be to return the turtle to his home.

It's probably a Painted turtle. Please be aware that providing the right care for turtles is tough, babies are tougher, and wild-caught even tougher.

A few basics, then the websites below can fill in the details.

Housing- A basic turtle environment includes:
- 10 gallons per inch of turtle shell length.
- water temps around 80
- good, warm basking sites and cooler, shady hiding places
- good filtration and cleaning program
- can be based in an aquarium, plastic tub, kiddie pool, etc.

Diet- you can get good quality turtle pellets at most pet shops, but get the good stuff- cheap pellets are not healthy. As you get more experience, you can add fresh or frozen fish, bugs, worms, etc.

The sites below can give you more help...

Most turtles do not like to be put under direct sunlight, but since u found this one, he may enjoy the sun. You have to test it out. Different turtles eat different foods, but mainly its veggies. My turtle really likes lettuce, carrots, and even fruits like bananas. U can buy turtle pelets, but i found that they enjoy to have both. Dont endulge them into too much treats, they can get overweight, and can die. It needs to have a cage that air can vent through. Oh, turtles also like water, maybe a small pond of water to relax in. Hope this helps..

Feed it grass and flies. Also go to yahoo and type in "pet care, turtles" or "turtles, feeding pets" etc. Also, turtles do carry Salmonella (food poisoning usually found in fecal matter) since they are low to the ground and crawl through alot of nasty things. So I suggest you wash your hands ALOT. Seriously. Of course not every turtle has it, just a safety precaution.

i used to have a turtle when i was younger which i found on the road also. Bought a cage (snake cage) and fed it plants and carrots and lettuce. I also put a bowl that sort of looked like a dog food bowl cuz he fit in it and it usually climbed into and swam sort of like a bath.

Please do the kind thing and turn Roger loose. It is very cruel to keep any wild creature. Plus they have salmanala bad. No joke. Look it up. Sorry if this isn't the answer you wanted but I speak the truth...Go to your local rescue center and get a puppy or kitten...

Let it go, why would you want to imprison the poor creature? They are meant to be with other turtles. It would be a good idea to get it back to the lake.
