Simple. To deflect attention away from the failing war efforts, monster spending in the budget and price gouging oil barons. They dont want to stifle the media, they want to fill it with propaganda so people dont see the injustices happening on a daily basis here.

Bush can declassify anything he wants. He does not need to "leak" anything, he can declassify and tell it outright.
I think your protection of the media is obvious, that or you are not smart enough to know that you have been lied to.

I think you have your facts backwards.....it is the media that is constantly reporting on information that should not be made public because it endangers soldiers and the country....the liberal media is the hate machine.
