Why would it be stupid?
Talk to anyone you want. unless of course you are a 13 year old, in which case, I would recommend being more selective and careful, and having an adult assist you in that.
But if you are an adult, get to know anyone you can ... but only online .. don't take it offline.
And if you are a teen-ager, keep it friendly, annonymous, and again, online only.
And .. i know it's been said time and again, and most teen girls just laugh at it, but its true, an older man (anyone over 20) looking for/at younger girls wants one thing, no matter what he says. Look for friends your own age.

You are taking your chances with someone online whether they are pakistanian or russian, or chinese...
Be careful, it doesn't matter where they come from, the internet is dangerous. Period.

I say it is dumb i can not tell you how many have IMed me i can't undersand half of there typing so I tell them I am 14 to get rid of them..nope it makes it worse ..I do not like talking to people from other countrys if the can not speak english or i can't understand what they are talking about.

Not at all. If he's a nice fellow and you enjoy his conversation - why not. Doesn't matter where he sleeps at night or what colour his skin is. A nice man is a nice man and unless he does something untoward, I'd say enjoy your new IM friendship!
