First off, I will assume you are speaking of a celebrity, not someone like Audie Murphy other Sargent York who were real heros.
Next, I will assume you are talking about someone who’s fame did not come from his/her heroic acts, but from being a performer.
Now, I am going to add something. I am only going to think about the living. Michael Landon’s actions, after he KNEW he was dying displayed true heroism. The same can be said of John Wayne (who, who saw it, can ever forget his entrance at the Oscars just weeks before his death). There are others (Bob Hope comes to mind), but you can see why I will not mention the dead.
So, we are down to living performers who are real heros. Well, I can’t decide, but I will mention two.
Michael J. Fox. He still acted after being diagnosed with Parkinson Disease, and after he could no longer act still made (and makes) public service announcements. His actions display true character and heroism.
Jerry Lewis (yes, you read that right). In spite of chronic back problems and constant pain, every year he raises millions for Jerry’s Kids. I don’t know why he got interested in Muscular Dystrophy, but if you ever see some of the old Martin and Lewis Comedy Hour programs, he ends most of them with a request to remember MD and those that suffer.
These are my ideas of heros.

My heroes would have to be all the men and women serving in our Militaries. And I don't mean just the ones overseas. I mean ALL of them. At least the honorable ones, because, as we know, there are too many dishonorable people in our Military, and that's a shame. But for the men and women who join every day to serve and protect our country, You all are my heroes!!! OOh-Rah!

My hero is Mariah Carey because she inspired me to come back from hard times and get back up no matter what happens. Just like in her music business she didn't do music for a while and came back with a slaming record!!!
