well, tension tamer tea works really well for me and you can get that at the grocery store however you said you tried teas...usually when i cant sleep there is something bothering me or on my mind. maybe find a good friend to talk to and get everything off your chest.
exercise helps too beleive it or not. you should not exercise right before bed but, if you get into a regular exercise routine that helps. also, pick a time to go to bed and try to always go to bed around that time. keep your room separate only for sleeping. do not do any studying/working there. hmmm...im not sure of more tips...if i think of anything else i will edit this later.

Turkey is supposed to have tryptropan which causes drowsiness, so maybe a turkey sandwich before bed. Also warm milk causes drowsiness. Have you tried Melatonin, I use 4 mg every night and it sure helps me sleep. Also, I am sure you have tried dihenhydramine, which is generic Benadryl, the same stuff they put in over-the-counter sleep aids. Warm bath, dark room, no television, maybe a sound machine, I use mine set on "rain" every night. Make sure your room is plenty cool, you sleep better if you are cool. As you can tell, I have had this problem, too. You probably are already doing or have done all of this, but that is about all I know, except some relaxation techniques after getting into bed. You can find some really cool ones on the net. Good luck!!!!!!!!!

1. Maintain a regular sleeping schedule, that is get up and sleep at a fixed time
2. Only head to the bed when you are actually sleepy, (if you toss in turn trying to sleep, leave the bed and engage in another activity till you are really sleepy)
3. A hot bath and warm glass of milk does help (don't drink too much as that might make you get up to pee later)
4. Eat food at least 2-3 hours before heading to sleep
5. Avoid too much alcohol at night as that would put you to sleep but will decrease the quality of your sleep
6. refrain from using sleeping pills or any other aids as that will make you dependent on them, if you think they are required visit a doctor first
7. watching TV or any other stimulating activity may increase the time it takes you to go to sleep

Make sure your mattress isn't too hard or too soft. too much foam and hi-loft pillowtops can take on very deep body impressions which can stress parts of your body that need better support. On the other hand, a mattress that is too hard may cause discomfort on pressure points. I would recommend a mattress change to almost everyone who is suffering from tired days, sleepless nights, or back pain. Try that before medication. What have you got to lose?

Avoid taking any stimulants such as sugar, coffee, and drink a glass of warm milk 30 minutes before bedtime. Try and live an active lifestyle to initiate fatigue -- go for walks...

My wife has always had sleeping problems her whole life. She's just started taking GABA - you can get it at most health food shops - and she's slept like a baby for the last few nights. You should try it.

If you have tried all of those and still cant sleep then I suggest you see your doctor and fast! When I cant sleep my method is to be in total darkness with no noise and to be totally relaxed because if you are stressed your brain keeps you awake.

Try doing activities in the morning that requires great energy, like football or swimming. If you do this, you will sleep like a baby.
