In 1986 the celtics drafted an extremely talented player from Maryland named Len Bias. After being drafted the young man partied all night and died of a cocaine overdose. Had he lived many believed he had the potential to be another Jordan and give Bird more years in his career. Ironically that year was the last time the celtics won a championship.

To Batmen:

I happened to have had the pleasure of seeing Len Bias play in person at Cole Field House while I was living at the DC area at the time. He was incredible. He could simply take over the game with his shotmaking and impressive dunks..and he played defense real well too. He may not have played a single nba game but i assure you had he lived his impact on the game would have been tremendous. In a way there is some basis for thinking of his demise as a curse. The celtics won a championship in every decade till that point (50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s). They have not made the finals since 1987. They're one shot was the Tim Duncan draft year but they didnt luck out in getting the top pick in in the lottery. This is the longest drought in celtics history in terms of championships and it all started with the death of Bias. If you want to interpret it as a curse of the Bias legacy it wont be far off the truth. Dont disrespect Bias? Oh pleeeze the guy threw his life away on a cocaine binge. If he deserves respect for that then please join Osama and his mindless minions. And don't blame Ainge for their troubles. Given what he has to deal with Danny has done a decent job

Please. The Len Bias curse???? This ain't like the bambino is it. Bias never played a game of NBA basketball in his life. There is no curse. Potential never won a championship. Teamwork and Superstars win championships. The len bias curse sounds like crap. At least you won a championship that you can remember. Trying being a Warrior fan. You want to know what the Celt's problem is? It ain't the curse. It's your front office. Ainge has made a mockery of the Green and White. That's your curse. Call it the Ainge curse. Don't disrespect Bias.

That was the lowest point in Celtics recent history. I think Boston has to keep Pierce. They are a point guard away from being really good. Wasm't Pierce a #7 pick? Maybe they'll get lucky in the draft. Otherwise they need to trade it for a point guard. I think it's just a matter of time before they are back. I just wonder if they gave up on Walker to soon. He is not D Wade, but geez they were right there with him & Pierce.

There is no curse. Just do a better job in the draft and with trades.

It will take a few years experience. They are a very young team so all they need is experience and they should be just fine.
